Division 2 League Final: Congratulations to the team & management on a great win over Annaduff in the Division 2 League Final on Sunday in Pairc Sean on a scoreline of 2-09 to 1-10. Despite a shaky start when we trailed by 4 points the lads settled into the game and after points from Martin Beirne (2), James Flynn & Thomas Mulvey, Ciaran Walsh struck for a goal in the 26th minute after great work from Caleb Duffy & Alan Wynne. Just before the break Martin Raftery hit a lovely point from play and we went in level at the interval. Our first score of the second period was a goal when Martin Beirne reacted quickest after a great effort from James Flynn was saved. James was playing a captain’s role when he added 2 fine points from play in the 40th & 42nd minutes to keep us ahead. Annaduff were pushing hard and 2 frees from Martin Beirne kept the scoreboard ticking over. It took a wonderful save from Diarmuid to save our bacon in the dying moments as Annaduff went all out for a winner but we deservedly held on for the victory. Well done to all the players for their commitment all year and it was fantastic to see a great servant like James Flynn lift the cup afterwards. Congratulations to manager Sean Pierson and selectors Paddy Higgins & Angus Fee for all their hard work during a long season and we look forward to competing in Division 1 next season.

A big thank you also to John Moran of SKC Providers and Michael McDonagh of Mick the Barbers for their sponsorship of a set of kitbags for the U-15 squad.
U-15’s: The U-15’s drew with Mohill in the 15 aside final in the curtain raiser on a scoreline of 2-06 to 1-09 in Pairc Sean on Sunday. We got away to a great start after Ciaran McMorrow pointed an opening free when Radek Oberwan converted a penalty in the 10th minute and this was followed almost immediately by a Conor Flood goal to put us in the driving seat & with further points from Ciaran, Conor & Radek we led at the break 2-04 to 0-03. The defensive work from the team in the first half was outstanding with numerous blocks & interceptions a particular highlight. In the second half credit must go to Mohill who got on top in terms of possession and with only Shane McKeon and Liam McGourty pointing for us, Mohill reeled off a succession of points to leave just a goal between the sides and as often happens in underage games the equaliser arrived in the last minute when Mohill scrambled to the net. Both sides could have won it in injury time but we have to do it all again next weekend so best wishes to Farrell, Angus and the team. We wish Mark Reynolds a speedy recovery as he had to attend NowDoc after the game for a head injury suffered in the second half. Please turn out again in numbers to support the team.

U-15’s: The U-15’s reached the 15 aside final with a 2-11 to 2-09 win over St. Marys in the park on Sunday. These 2 teams served up another gripping encounter in front of a large crowd of supporters and the lads did great to get over the line when the game could have gone either way. Playing with the breeze we got off to a flying start bagging 1-02 in the opening 3 minutes the goal from Radek Oberwan but St. Marys fought back and we led at the break 1-06 to 0-03 thanks to Ciaran McMorrow ‘s accuracy from placed balls and points from play from Shane McKeon and Sean Lynch. We got the opening point of the second half but St. Marys gradually got on top and reduced the deficit with a goal shortly afterwards. We steadied the ship with a couple of frees from Ciaran, a super goal from Conor Flood and after a great Eoin Guckian point we led 2-09 to 1-07 but a second brilliant Mary’s goal brought it back to 2 points. Rory O’Donnell had to perform heroics in goals to keep us ahead and with time almost up St. Marys struck an equaliser. As the game entered injury time the lads earned a free which Radek slotted over and with the last play of the game Sean Lynch hit the insurance point to ensure a hard fought victory. Well done to both teams and good luck to Farrell, Angus and the lads in the final we think on Sunday where a strong Mohill team will provide the opposition.. Please turn out in numbers to support the team.
U-16 Ladies: The ladies were defeated by Ballinamore Sean O’Heslins in the park on Sunday on a scoreline of 1-09 to 1-04. We have 2 games remaining so best of luck to Ciara, Sinead and the team in those matches.

Division 2 Playoff: Congratulations to the team & management on winning the league playoff against Dromahair in Drumkeerin last Saturday on a scoreline of 3-14 to 2-06. The victory confirms a quick return to Division 1 and a chance of some silverware when we will meet Annaduff in the Division 2 Final once they have completed the Intermediate Championship. The game was played in difficult conditions but we started well and with the sides tied at 0-02 points apiece a Shane Walsh goal in the 7th minute settled the nerves. Dromahair struck for a gaol themselves in the 19th minute to reduce the arrears but Alan Wynne slotted home our second goal in the 20th minute to regain the advantage. Mark Gunning was sent off after a second yellow on 26 minutes and with a half time score of 2-06 to 1-04 a difficult second period looked on the cards. However the deficit in numbers was never a factor and we played some great stuff after the break and once Thomas Mulvey struck a third goal on 40 minutes the game was under control. Dromahair fought on and scored a goal with the final kick of the game. Our scorers were: Martin Beirne 0-03; Shane Walsh 1-00; Alan Wynne 1-00; Thomas Mulvey 1-00; James Flynn 0-02; Caleb Duffy 0-02; Nicholas Moore 0-02; Diarmaid McKiernan 0-02; Shane Beirne 0-02; Ciaran Walsh 0-01. The league final is due to be played in Sunday October 28th.

Minor Ladies: The ladies were defeated by St. Mary’s in the final in Leitrim Village on Sunday morning. The scoreline doesn’t do justice to the efforts of the girls who were up against a physically imposing St. Marys combination who coped better with the difficult conditions. The majority of the team are eligible again next year and in many cases 2 more years so there will be better days ahead. The team was Niamh McDonagh, Eimear Gibbons, Lauryn McKeon, Edel O’Donnell, Niamh Morahan, Laoise Fee, Roisin McGrenaghan, Caoimhe McGarry, Olwyn Moore, Megan Moran, Zakalina Ozdobinska, Ciara Lynch, Ciara Reynolds, Niamh Nolan, Roslyn Kane, Maria McGrenaghan, Grace McKeon, Abby Collins, Amy Moran, Kaitlyn Dolan, Rachel McGarry, Sarah McLoughlin. St. Francis Ladies: Congratulations to the ladies who won a thrilling Intermediate Final in Ballinamore on Sunday with a 2-12 to 3-07 win over Mohill. Mairead McCawley struck an early goal to settle the nerves and we were on top for the early stages but Mohill staged a recovery and led by 5 points at one point but the girls showed great heart and determination and a second half goal from Ailish Cornyn put us on the road to victory. Great credit goes to both teams and thank you to all the support who turned out to cheer the girls home. Well done to Paul, Gareth and the squad on a great achievement.
Division 2 Playoff: We play Dromahair in the long awaited league playoff in Drumkeerin this Saturday at 4pm. As this will decide promotion to Division 1 for the coming season it’s a hugely important game so please turn out to support the lads. Good luck to Sean, Angus, Paddy & the team.

Senior Championship: We bowed out of the championship on Saturday evening in Pairc Sean losing to defending champions Mohill on a scoreline of 3-17 to 0-08. After an encouraging opening 20 minutes it was all Mohill as we faded out of the game. The final margin was harsh on the players who put in a big effort. While we showed flashes of promise this season, we certainly learned that Division 2 is no preparation for the senior championship and it is important that everyone remains focussed for the coming weeks with a crucial league playoff with Dromahair to come that will decide who joins Annaduff in Division 1 next year. We wish Mohill well in the remainder of the championship and well done to the players & management for their commitment all year.

Dunnes Bar Division 2: The lads had 2 tough games last week against Dromahair and Annaduff. We travelled to Dromahair on Wednesday evening and found ourselves a goal down in the first minute & worse almost followed as Dromahair missed a penalty in the 4th minute as well as a couple of very scorable chances. We got on the scoreboard in the 7th minute when Shane Beirne fisted a point quickly followed by a point from play from Caleb Duffy. The home side had the next 2 points before we hit 4 points on the trot between the 16th and 24th minute from James Flynn, Caleb Duffy (2) & Martin Beirne. Dromahair hit back with 3 points of their own to lead 1-05 to 0-6 at the break. The home side kicked on after the interval and points in the 32nd & 34th minute saw them lead by 4. Martin Beirne landed a free in reply but another free in the 42nd minute proved to be their last score. The home side were reduced to 14 men and played a rearguard action to protect their lead. Martin Beirne in the 47th minute and a long range Diarmuid McKiernan free left 2 points in it with 10 minutes remaining. We were unable to find a way through in that time and it was the first minute of injury time when Bryan Beirne landed a long range score to bring us within one. As time was running out Martin Raftery was the hero when he popped up with the equaliser in the 4th minute of stoppage time to secure a share of the spoils.
In a must win game on Saturday evening we came out on top in a tight encounter with table toppers Annaduff. Again another slow start saw us trail 1-04 to 0-01 at the end of the opening quarter. The visitors raced into a 3 point lead in 7 minutes before Caleb Duffy pointed from play after great work from Kyle Flynn in defence.
Annaduff added another point and then as they dominated possession struck for a goal on 12 minutes. Martin Beirne replied with a free and then in the 20th minute hit the net to bring us back into the game. Thomas Mulvey added a point from play and in the 26th minute Ciaran Walsh got on the end of a move to strike for our second goal and put us in the lead for the first time. However on the stroke of half time Annaduff were awarded a penalty & converted to leave the interval score 2-04 to 2-03 to the visitors. Annaduff had the first 2 points of the second half inside 2 minutes but Caleb Duffy was on hand in the 33rd minute to grab our third goal & level the game. Both sides missed chances before Annaduff edged ahead again in the 42nd minute. Martin Beirne converted a free to level again going into the last quarter. Annaduff scored from a free to lead again on 49 minutes but this was short lived as Martin Raftery
broke up field to level once more. Diarmuid McKiernan converted a pressure 45 after missing a couple earlier with 5 minutes remaining. When Annaduff hit a great long range equaliser in the 58th minute it looked like they would secure the point they needed to confirm promotion. However with the game in injury time Caleb Duffy hit a free and then added a final point from play after a brilliant interception by
David Wynne to close out the game on a score line of 3-08 to 2-09.Scorers: Martin Beirne 1-03; Caleb Duffy 1-03; Ciaran Walsh 1-00; Thomas Mulvey 0-01; Martin Raftery 0-01. Our last game this weekend isa must win match against Cloone in Cloone so best of luck to the team & management.
St. Francis Ladies: Well done to the ladies who got the championship off to a good start with a well deserved win over Mohill on Sunday morning. Dunnes Bar Division 2: It’s been a busy week for the team & management with two games in 4 days. We travelled to Drumreilly last Wednesday evening and after a titanic battle emerged with a share of the spoils on a scoreline of 4-11 to 3-14 in a cracking encounter. We led 1-10 to 1-07 at the break and with Caleb Duffy in imperious form were looking good for the points but a late goal for the home side earned a draw. Our scorers were: Caleb Duffy 3-06 (4f); Thomas Mulvey 0-02; Martin Beirne 0-02; Shane Walsh 0-02; Martin Raftery 0-01; Diarmuid McKiernan 0-01. On Sunday morning we had a home game against Glencar Manorhamilton and after another high quality game we came out on top on a scoreline of 3-10 to 0-13. Again this was a great battle and if Manor had converted some goal chances then it would have been a closer affair. We led 1-06 to 0-05 at the interval with Bryan Beirne finding the roof of the net in the 4th minute. Martin Beirne scored a goal in the 35th minute with a great finish from a tight angle and Thomas Mulvey secured the points when he coolly slotted home in the 52nd minute. Scorers: Martin Beirne 1-07 (5f); Thomas Mulvey 1-01; Bryan Beirne 1-00; Caleb Duffy 0-02. Best of luck to the squad & management in the remaining games as we chase promotion. We are fixed to play away to Dromahair on Wednesday evening at 8:30pm and at home to Annaduff on Saturday, the two teams above us in the table. This means we have to play 4 games in 10 days which is a very big ask of players at this time of year with lads having to travel for 2 consecutive Wednesday night games. If the Fixtures Committee feel this is a reasonable situation then all clubs should have to play the same schedule and this is not the case!

Westlink Coaches U-15 Boys: The boys played their hearts out on Friday evening in Pairc Sean in the 15 aside league final only to come up short against Mohill. After a terrible start where Mohill netted twice in the opening minutes & missed a couple of other goal chances early on the lads settled and worked their way back into the game. Points from Arik Oberwan, Ciaran McMorrow (2) & Mark Reynolds stemmed the flow before we struck for 2 goals ourselves from Ciaran with a fortunate long range effort and Radek Oberwan after a super pass from Shane McKeon. Ciaran added a free and remarkably we led 2-05 to 2-03 at the break. Unfortunately Mohill struck twice for goals early in the second half after high balls into the square broke for them. Radek added a point & converted a penalty, Ciaran scored from play and Rory O’Donnell made a brilliant save to deny another goal as Conor Flood hit our last point late on but Mohill ran out deserving winners. Overall this was a very encouraging performance from the team who have grown throughout the league and with the return of Sean Lynch, injured in the semi final and Ronan Moran, unavailable last week, the lads can look forward to putting it up to this fine Mohill side in the championship. Well done to the whole squad and to coaches Farrell McKeon & Angus Fee.
Dunnes Bar Division 2: We lost to Bornacoola on Saturday evening in a downpour in Ballinaglera on a scoreline of 0-13 to 0-06. We trailed 0-05 to 0-02 at the break after missing a host of chances especially in the opening quarter. Despite the lads best efforts we missed 2 great goal opportunities in the second half to close the gap and Bornacoola added 3 points in injury time to secure the points. Nicholas Moore was our only scorer on the night with 4 frees & 2 from play which tells its own story. Although under strength this was a sloppy performance and there is lots to work on in the coming weeks.
Thanks: A big thank you to our neighbours Ballinaglera for the use of their pitch on Saturday evening. A special word of congratulations to the club on the installation of the new electronic scoreboard which even though it didn’t make good reading for us at the weekend is a great addition to the grounds so well done to all concerned.
Swan Bar Division 3: We have a home game on Sunday morning against Glencar Manorhamilton but the pitch is still closed for a couple of weeks so details of the venue will be circulated later in the week.

Westlink Coaches U-15 Boys: The boys won an epic match against St. Marys in Carrick last Thursday evening on a scoreline of 5-15 to 2-16 in the 15 aside semi final. This was a thrilling game between 2 well matched sides and it was refreshing to see both teams exhibit high fielding, kick passing and great score getting. The game swung in favour of each side with St. Mary’s starting both halves strongly but ultimately the lads kicked on in the last 10 minutes with the game tied and we scored 1-08 to 0-01 in that period to ensure the win. We led at the break 3-05 to 0-11 with Radek finding the net twice including a well taken penalty and Shane McKeon with another great finish. St. Marys scored 2-02 in the opening 6 minutes of the second half to turn the game again in their favour but we put in a great last quarter and once Ciaran McMorrow expertly found the net on 50minutes we never looked back. Our scorers were: Ciaran McMorrow 1-08 (5f); Radek Oberwan 3-02; Shane McKeon 1-00; Conor Flood 0-03; Sean Lynch 0-01; Jamie McGrail 0-01. We now play Mohill in the final who have won all their games to date including a 1-12 to 0-10 win over our lads last week. Dunnes Bar Division 2: We had 5 points to spare over Kiltubrid on Saturday evening played in Kiltubrid on a scoreline of 2-09 to 1-07. Two early points from play from Nicholas Moore settled us down before James Gill pointed a free for the home side on 9 minutes. Caleb Duffy found the net on 14 minutes with a great finish, quickly followed by another point from play from Nicholas and a second goal in the 18th minute from James Flynn after a good team move left us in control. Emmet Mahon & James Gill pointed frees for Kiltubrid in the 25th & 28th minutes before a soft penalty call brought the home side back into contention as Keelan McKeon finished to the bottom corner. Nicholas added a free in injury time to leave the score at the break 2-04 to 1-03. James Flynn from play & another free from Nicholas Moore extended the lead in the opening 5 minutes of the second period. James Gill pointed a free in the 36th minute before Ciaran Walsh & Nicholas both found the range from play to leave 7 points between the sides entering the final quarter. Mickey Earley struck Kiltubrid’s only score from play in the 47th minute and James Flynn replied immediately after great work by Martin Raftery. Emmet Mahon & James Gill added 2 frees in the closing minutes to leave the final score 2-09 to 1-07. Well done to Michael McGovern who performed well in goals on the night. Dunnes Bar Division 2: We played Carrigallen at home on Saturday evening and prevailed on a scoreline of 2-09 to 1-09 after a tough battle. For a second week we started slowly and trailed 0-04 to 0-01 after 12 minutes before a Ciaran Walsh penalty brought us level.
