Participants travelled in great numbers representing a wide variety of running clubs from neighbouring counties and beyond. They all spoke highly about the stunning Blueway, the efficient and encouraging stewards and the supply of refreshments on their return to The Mayflower. The weather (heaven sent we feel!), live commentary and music along the route really added to the friendly atmosphere. The support services – race leaders on bikes, gardaí, ambulance service, Order of Malta and sub aqua unit – provided reassuring back-up services on the day. The Mayflower Committee allowed the organisers to set-up and deliver the event in a professional and efficient manner. Local media outlets and photographers provided excellent publicity and coverage of the event.
