Ronan Moran: On Sunday last we said farewell to our dear friend and club mate Ronan Moran (Shroom). Ronan was carried on a wave of love to his final resting place by family, friends & teammates.  The crowds that enveloped Ronan on his final journey were like the young man himself exceptional.  GAA rivals became our allies as they visited Ronan’s home and lined the streets shoulder to shoulder with Ronan’s club mates, former teams, schools and a devastated community, your support at this time will never be forgotten, thank you.  We hope that at least a fraction of the obvious love and support was felt by all Ronan’s loved ones.  There was obviously so much love and thought put into Ronan’s beautiful funeral service, everyone involved did him so proud. Even at this saddest of times he sent us laughs and smiles as stories were shared.

Ronan captained the Minor A Team who won the championship in 2020, was the Man of the Match with the winning Minor B championship Team in 2019 and most recently winning the under 19 league in 2022. This does not include many narrowly missed titles nor his achievements on the Soccer field with Valley Rovers, on the Handball Court with Drumshanbo Handball Club or on the Volleyball Court with Drumshanbo Vocational School.

We could write for days about the gifts, achievements and potential of Ronan Moran words just feel inadequate. Ronan’s greatest achievement and legacy is being a devoted son and brother, a fun-filled, loyal friend and an adoring boyfriend and an amazing, kind person with the most striking smile.

We offer our deepest sympathies and continuing support to Ronan’s parents John and Geraldine, his brothers Kevin and Fergal, Aunts Ann and Abina, Uncles Joe and Niall, cousins Ciarán, Darragh and Eve, Ronan’s extended family, Tarah and Colette and his girlfriend Kaitlyn and to the many people who love and mourn Ronan.

At this time we also send our thoughts and support to our club members and friends spread throughout the globe who are grieving with us away from home.

We cannot ever comprehend the loss of a young man so full of love, life and potential, to paraphrase a line from Ronan’s favourite song by Coldplay “For some reason, we can’t explain, St. Peter did call your name”.

We are forever grateful for the much too short time we did have with Ronan and for that we thank his proudest supporters John, Geraldine, Kevin and Fergal for sharing the gift of their precious son and brother with us at Allen Gaels.

Rest in Peace Dear Friend, keep smiling on us all, forever our number 1.

Sympathies: In what was such a sad week for the community we also express our deepest sympathies to the Logan family on the sad passing of Sean Logan last week and also to the Flynn family on the sad passing of Jim Joe & Sheilas sister Maura who passed away in Dublin last week also, may they both rest in peace.
