To all the parents of our ‘Allen Gaels Footballers’: A group of the mothers are holding a ‘Coffee and Bun Day’ next Sunday 4th October between 11am and 4pm at The Barista on the Blueway in Kilclare….the idea is that people can bring their kids for a walk or a cycle on the new blueway and take a break at the coffee shop ….Barista coffee, fresh squeezed oj, buns and cakes, ice-cream and most importantly crepes. This is a great way to bring some badly needed funds into the club while still being able to socially distance…all profits on the day go to Allen Gaels and hopefully weather permitting we can have a fun day doing it too. We re asking every family with someone playing in the club to come and support this worthy cause as our children depend on this sort of fundraising for the club to function. So Please make the effort, get some exercise and most important, spend some money. From ‘Allen Gaels Mothers Group’

Sympathy: Shane Conlon (1971-2020) – RIP

Allen Gaels CLG offers its deepest condolences to Lisa Conlon, New York, and the wider Conlon and Padden families, on the sad news of the sudden and untimely passing of her brother Shane in New York on Thursday 26th March.

Shane played underage for Allen Gaels for a number of years and his late father Sean was a club stalwart from the sixties to the late eighties, and was instrumental in the construction of the original dressing rooms and entrance to the then; Captain Jim Vaugh grounds in 1977.

Shane was a good friend to many members of the club and will be remembered, very fondly, by one and all, and his good humour, kindness and loyalty will endure for a long time indeed.

There will be a service held for Shane in St.Joseph’s Church, Astoria, NYC, followed by cremation on 30th March and his remains will be repatriated and buried in the family plot in Drumshanbo New Cemetery, later in the year.
